What makes it slightly confusing is that Nano Banana is now not one model name but a label covering several models with different purposes. Here are the differences, based on official information as of July 2026.
Nano Banana is the brand for Gemini’s image features
The original Nano Banana’s technical name was Gemini 2.5 Flash Image. A quality-focused Pro and newer Flash-family models followed, and there are now four lines: Nano Banana 2 Lite, Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro, and the original Nano Banana.
