One product across three modes
Vibe is the integrated AI agent from the French company Mistral AI, covering work, coding, and chat. It is available on the web, on mobile, in a code editor, and from a terminal.
Mistral’s conversational service was previously called Le Chat and was renamed Vibe on 5 June 2026. Accounts, plans, and past conversations carried over, and it remains available at the same address.
Work, Code, and Chat
- Vibe Work: multi-step jobs such as research, document production, summarization, and scheduled execution
- Vibe Code: reading code, running commands, making changes, and reviewing
- Vibe Chat: ordinary question-and-answer conversation
Work gathers information from connected apps, the web, and attachments, then plans and executes. Code is available from a CLI, VS Code, and a web workspace, handling local files and GitHub repositories. Chat retains what Le Chat offered — conversation, Deep Research, a code interpreter, and memory.
Compared with ChatGPT and Codex
Where ChatGPT is a general service for conversation and production, and Codex an agent for code and machine operations, Vibe brings work, code, and conversation under one brand and account.
It resembles the way Claude and Claude Code split by purpose. In Vibe you choose the mode first: Chat for a short question, Work for a job spanning applications, Code for development against files and repositories.
Cautions
Shortly after the rename, app stores, billing screens, and older articles may still say Le Chat. Le Chat did not shut down and become something else — it was widened and folded into Vibe.
Granting Work or Code access to external services, files, or a terminal widens what the AI can do. For consequential operations — sending, publishing, deleting, charging, changing code — check the approval screen and the diff, and connect only the permissions required.
