An assistant inside the apps people already use
Meta AI is the assistant from Meta, the company behind Facebook and Instagram. It answers questions, writes, searches, generates and edits images, and holds voice conversations.
Alongside a dedicated app and web version, it is built into WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger, Threads, and AI glasses. Features, countries, languages, and apps roll out in stages, so not everyone sees the same interface.

How it relates to Llama and Muse Spark
Meta AI is the service you interact with. Llama and Muse Spark are the models producing the answers — the same relation as ChatGPT to GPT.
Meta AI initially ran mainly on Llama models; in 2026 Muse Spark, developed by Meta Superintelligence Labs, was described as the model behind the app and web experience. The underlying model will continue to change, so Meta AI does not simply mean Llama.
Privacy and cautions
Meta AI may draw on what you have shared across Meta products and on public posts. That is useful, but it makes it worth checking which accounts are connected, whether conversations are retained, and how much personalization you allow.
Do not enter personal matters or confidential material with the same reflexes you use for an ordinary post or group chat. Where a private conversation mode exists, check availability and behavior in your region. As always, verify anything important against the original source.
